Eight kilometers long and three kilomters wide, this island in the Morbihan will enchant you with the beauty of its landscape and heritage. Once one of the largest tuna fishing ports in France, the Garnet Island is now focused on tourism.
A genuine geological treasure, Groix has more than 60 varieties of minerals found on the white sand beach of Les Grands Sable or the red garnet sand beach of Sables Rouges.
You will be amazed by the contrast between the pristine cliffed coast in the south and the beautiful sheltered beaches in the north. The island of Groix is well-known in southern Brittany for its coastal hiking path and diving spots. A number of shipwrecks can be observed in the area including a German U171 submarine sunk during World War II.
