GUADELOUPE : BEFORE DEPARTURE

Entry & exit formalities

Guadeloupe is a French overseas department. European nationals must simply have a valid identity card in order to travel to Guadeloupe. Be careful, if you plan to visit neighboring islands, such as Saint-Lucia, Dominica, a valid passport will be required. No visa is required for EU nationals. For other non-EU visitors, have a look on your embassy website to make sure about required formalities. Citizens of Canada and USA can stay for up to 90 days without a visa.

Airline companies

The “Pôle Caraïbes” airport, located in les Abymes, close to Pointe-à-Pitre, is the main airport of the Guadeloupe archipelago. Four airline companies serve Guadeloupe from France: AirCaraibes, Corsair , Air France and XL Airways. It takes around 8 to 9 hours to go to Guadeloupe from France by plane. From the USA, two airlines operate flights: American Airlines and Norwegian Airlines. From Canada, the airline companies are Air Transat and Air Canada. Cubana, Liat, Air Antilles Express and Seaborn ensure weekly connections to neighboring Caribbean islands such as Tobago.
