I TRIED FOR YOU

I am , your pathfinder in Bretagne Sud.

"It is sinister, diabolical but superb and I do not think to find such a thing elsewhere" Claude Monet

During the summer of 1886, Claude Monet evoked the idea of a "great tour in Brittany, but a simple tourist with a cane in his hand". In Brittany, it will be summarized at Belle-Ile, also reduced to its wild coast ...

After 15 days, there will be 75. Working relentlessly, 39 paintings will be born of his brushes in 10 weeks. He discovers the needles of Port-Coton, the rocks of the Lion, Port Goulphar and Port Domois. The rugged coast, the high dark cliffs and storms nourished his quest for new natural landscapes devoid of human activity, to which he wished to confront the Impressionist technique.

This will be an important step in his approach to his work.

The other painters who loved Belle-Ile are John-Peter Russell, Auguste Rodin, Henri Matisse, Emile Wery, Gustabe Courbet and many others.

I recommend you to see the needles of Port Coton and the Great Lighthouse of Goulphar right next door.
