Saint Martin is an island of 93m², located in the Caribbean, and more precisely in the north of the Lesser Antilles. How to travel to Saint Martin?

If you wish to travel to Saint Martin you can use one of two airports of the island. At the north of the island (in the French part, in Grand Case), is Grand Case l'Espérance (SFG) Airport. It serves both regional and long-haul destinations: Paris, Miami, Santo Domingo, Saint Lucia, Guadeloupe, Saint Barthelemy, and Martinique. It is a small airport, from which you can rent a car to discover the island. The companies serving this airport are Air Antilles, Air Caraibes and St. Barth Commuter.

The second airport of Princess Juliana (SXM) is located in the south of the island, in the Dutch part. It serves more destinations than Grand Case l'Esperance Airport, with flights to Canada (Toronto and Montreal), the United States (Miami, Charlotte, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Chicago), Europe (Paris, Amsterdam) and many regional Caribbean destinations (Fort de France, Pointe à Pitre, San Juan, Curacao, Anguilla, St. Kitts, Santo Domingo, etc.).

It is also possible to go to Saint Martin by sea shuttle from Anguilla and Saint-Barthélémy. You can reach the communes of Marigot or Philipsburg in SaintM artin from the port of Gustavia Saint-Barthélémy. The crossing takes about 30 minutes. Several companies operate round trips such as Direct Ferrie or Voyager 1er.

From Anguilla, it is also possible to reach Saint Martin by boat, either with the public ferry (about $20) or via private companies such as Funtime Charters or Calypso. The price is higher if you use a private service provider ($60). The trip takes about 25-30 minutes.

Where to sleep in Saint Martin?

Opt for a villa rental for your stay in Saint Martin! In the French part of the island, the most popular places to rent a villa in Saint Martin are Terres basses, Marigot and Orient Bay. In the Dutch part, you will find magnificent and prestigious villas in Cupecoy, Indigo Bay, or Down Beach.

The surface area of the island, being about 90km², means that it is quite possible to tour the island in one day. Also, it is not necessary to rent two villas in two different places for long stays. What to do in Saint Martin?

Saint Martin is nicknamed the "friendly island". It is an ideal island for a relaxing stay. With its many white sandy beaches, you can easily discover a new beach every day! In our top five of the most beautiful beaches in Saint Martin, you will find Baie Rouge Beach in Terres-Basse, Anse Marcel Beach in the extreme north, Maho Beach for the spectacle offered by the planes passing just above, Orient Bay, a long strip of white sand bordered by crystal clear waters where you can practice many aquatic spots, and Indigo Bay, a peaceful cove less frequented.

Many of these beaches offer sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, and are usually lined with restaurants or bars. Snorkeling, jet skiing, diving, paddleboarding and kayak rentals. There are no shortage of water activities in Saint Martin. Day trips to Saint Bartholomew or Anguilla are also possible by sea from Marigot.

If the island of Saint Martin is rather famous for its white sandy beaches lined with crystal clear waters, in the center of the island it is a real green paradise that shouldn’t be ignored. So don't miss the hike to Paradise Peak, the highest point of the island at 424m. This superb three-hour hike from the bottom of the peak is a loop that offers an incredible view of the whole island from its summit. At the foot of the peak is the Loterie Farm, a paradise-like setting with a tree climbing course, swimming pools, children's games, a zip line, a restaurant, and a bar. This place is ideal for any kind of activity (family days, friends or couples). For more comfort, it is possible to rent cabins and deckchairs.

Even if it rains, Saint Martin is an island that has beautiful alternatives to the beach. In Orient Bay, the La ChapelleTheater offers shows (in French). In Marigot or Philipsburg, shopping enthusiasts will find their happiness (very famous for the diamonds boutique). In the Dutch part of the island, you will find several casinos unless you prefer to discover the Topper Distillery, for rum, in Cole Bay.
