The island of Martinique is the perfect spot to indulge in a wide range of water-based activities . As a result, water sports enthusiasts can go surfing, kitesurfing, jetskiing, sailing, paddleboarding and diving.

The Atlantic coast features the best kitesurfing spots in Martinique, including Anse Michel, Pointe Faula, Cap Est and Macabou. Choose to stay in the town of Vauclin or François to be close to the best kitesurfing spots on the island. On the Caribbean coast, the kitesurfing spot at Pointe du Bout is more suitable for experienced kitesurfers. The best time for kitesurfing in Martinique is from December to July . Water sports centers can be found at the various sites for renting equipment or taking lessons.

Surfing enthusiasts should choose accommodations at the Presqu'île de la Caravelle. Excellent surfing spots can be found in Tartane, namely Pelle à Tarte or Cocoa . Surf shops rent equipment and also provide classes for beginners. Basse Pointe, which hosts Martinique Surf Pro, and Grande Rivière also provide excellent surfing opportunities in Martinique.

If you prefer jetskiing, jet ski rentals can be found all over the island. A number of jet ski tours, both with or without a license , are available. You'll be able to circle Diamond Rock , ride a jet ski along the beautiful beaches in the south of Martinique or discover the islets of Robert and François.

Why not discover Martinique's traditional fishing craft— the yole —at local clubs providing tours, particularly in Sainte-Luce. Or perhaps you'd prefer being a spectator at the races which take place each year at the end of July and the beginning of August.

Lastly, for those wanting to dive, Martinique provides superb underwater vistas. Choose the Caribbean coast for your diving holiday in Martinique. In both the north and south of the island, many diving clubs make it possible to discover tropical fish, coral reefs and even wreck sites! These clubs can be found in the towns of Schoelcher, Anses d'Arlet, Diamant, Trois Îlets, etc.
