In Basse-Terre, in the heart of the tropical forest, the commune of Petit-Bourg is traversed by a sumptuous road that runs through the National Park of Guadeloupe and the Col des Mamelles. Petit-Bourg is the largest commune of Guadeloupe, (131 km2), and extends to the volcanic massif of Basse-Terre.

The central location of the commune of Petit-Bourg, halfway between the sublime beaches of Grande-Terre and the leeward coast, makes it an excellent starting point for discovering the islands of Guadeloupe.

What to do in and around Petit-Bourg during your stay in Guadeloupe?

Staying in Petit-Bourg will provide you with an immersion experience of the Basse-Terre. Do you know why Petit-Bourg is nicknamed "the green city"? Because tropical forest covers 69% of Petit-Bourg.

You can easily acess hiking in the heart  of Guadeloupe national park, explore the heart of the forest or discover the beautiful "jump of the lizard" among Guadeloupe's most beautiful waterfalls. Petit-Bourg is also the location of the Montebello distillery and its excellent rum.  

For those who like to relax Viard Beach is yours to enjoy, but if your prefer to be more active it is also famous for kitesurfing.

A few minutes drive from Petit-Bourg you will reach the zoological park of Les Mamelles in the heart of the national park. Don't miss Crayfish Waterfall (la cascade aux Ecrevisses), but also the House of the Forest (la maison de la foret) which is an unusual bridge across the X,as well as many surrounding walks that have been arranged by the National Office of Forests (NOF).

 Moreover, we invite you to spend some time at  Jardin de Valombreuse, an extensive floral park, where tou can get to know the richness of the tropical vegetation in Guadeloupe.

We also love the "Bain à Colo", a small pool ideal for swimming in spring water and the ONF has set up a picnic area there for your enjoyment.

In the evenings, don't miss the Friday night agricultural market from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. which takes place at the Montebello roundabout car park. All the producers from the surrounding area come to sell their produce and you will also find local crafts. A moment of sharing and authenticity.
