Where is the town of Marin?
The town of Marin is located on the Caribbean coast of Martinique about 29 kilometers from the Aimé Césaire airport, or around 30 minutes by car. Once in the town of Marin, it takes only 15 minutes to reach the village of Sainte-Anne, little more to access the Salines beach. The location of Le Marin is also ideal for reaching the Atlantic coast of Martinique and especially the town of Vauclin. This should take you only 15 minutes to access this town from Marin.
What to do when you're in Marin?
Located on the Caribbean coast of Martinique, Le Marin is a town mainly oriented towards water sports. Its marina, located in a protected bay, welcomes up to 4,000 boats per year and propels the town onto the podium of the most attractive maritime basins in the Caribbean.
From the Marin marina, young and old alike will enjoy boarding the Aquabulle for an underwater vision excursion. Thanks to a glass-walled compartment, you can comfortably discover the wealth of coral reefs.
Ideal starting point for all nautical outings in the Caribbean Sea, you can board the catamarans from the Marina to discover Martinique and its white backgrounds. The majority of companies also offer shuttles and excursions to the neighboring island of Saint Lucia. Several circuits are available to you, Friday night, shopping in Castries or discovering cocoa plantations after having landed in the bay of Twin Peaks (classified as a UNESCO heritage site).
Finally, the Marin marina has a number of bars and restaurants where you can eat. A special mention for the concept of the Annex where you can taste pierrades of meat and fish accompanied by homemade fries.
If you are staying at Le Marin, take the time to stroll around the market to buy some local fruit and vegetables to introduce you to Creole cuisine!
Where to rent electric vehicles in Martinique?
When our customers asked us about renting bikes or scooters in Martinique, we always had difficulty answering them. But that was before Watt Up! This company recently installed at the Marin marina offers rental of electric vehicles to discover Martinique on land or on water!
Indeed, the Watt Up team has a wide range of land vehicles: bikes for both adolescents and adults, scooters but also small electric cars similar to golf carts. On the water you can rent monohulls, small catamarans and even barbecue boats - all day or half day! Land vehicles can be rented for longer periods. We can only recommend the use of these services during your stay in Martinique! What are the closest beaches to the town of Marin?
For followers of the PMT (understand palm, mask, snorkel), go to Pointe Borgnesse. To access the beach (on the N5, before arriving at the Marin), take a small steep path, you will be rewarded by the diversity of the funds that shelter these crystal clear waters.
During your stay in Martinique and more particularly if you stay at Le Marin or if you rent in Sainte-Anne, take the time to discover the superb Cap Macré beach. At the eastern exit of the Bourg du Marin take the direction of Sainte-Anne then at the roundabout follow the signs for Cap Macré. Not very touristy because accessible by a rocky path (but still suitable for motor vehicles!) This magnificent white sand beach is bordered by grape trees and some coconut trees. The shades of blue invite you to swim (beware of the waves anyway) and the picnic tables for lunch! Great program in perspective!
Although its name includes that of the town, Pointe Marin is located in Sainte-Anne! Allow about 10 minutes to reach Pointe Marin from the eastern exit of the commune of Marin. Pointe Marin is best known for the presence of Club Med and a beautiful white sand beach lined with restaurants.
Finally, the very famous Salines beach is accessible in 15 minutes from the East away from Marin. Very popular during weekends and holidays, this white sand beach offers a paradise setting: turquoise waters and coconut palms!
