Belle Ile - Sauzon rentals : more informations

Located on the northwest tip of Belle-Île-en-Mer in southern Brittany, Sauzon features exceptional natural sites in addition to its port protected deep within an estuary.

This port has become the emblem of Belle-Île-en-Mer with its picturesque homes which stretch along the dock and give Sauzon its Mediterranean air. On a side note, Sauzon was called Port-Philippe for fifty years in honor of King Louis-Philippe, before reverting to its original name.

Take the time to live at the island's pace by enjoying a crepe while taking in the sea view or strolling through Sauzon's night market at the height of summer. Hikers can follow the coastal path to Pointe des Poulains while passing through the sheltered beaches of Bordery and Deuborh.

Located close to Sauzon, the Koh Kastell bird reserve hosts the largest colony of brown seagulls in France. On the town's pristine coast, take the time to swim at Donnant beach, a surfing spot, or come admire the huge waves in rough weather. The actress Sarah Bernhardt, taken with Sauzon, had a house built there which has since become a museum you can visit at Pointe des Poulains. Sauzon is also the home of the menhirs Jean and Jeanne, locals who were turned into stone which move closer to one another every year.

In the summer, you can directly access Sauzon by boarding Compagnie Océane boats coming from Quiberon. Once there, you can get around on the island's bus network or rent bicycles for the whole family. We recommend the electric bikes as Belle-Île-en-Mer is known in the whole of the Morbihan for being hilly!

Sauzon, a real gem in Belle-Île-en-Mer, is an oasis of color and easy living. I encourage you to come here to relax at any time of the year.
